The world will not wait for you to have all your ducks in a row.  You may have to jump onto the rail car as it is moving down the track.

Okay, I know these are two different metaphors.  Whatever.  You get my point.

One of my favourite sayings is by Ivan Turgenev: “… if we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready, we shall never begin.”

Procrastination is a crippling habit…you literally cannot move forward.  But if you need to do something very important, something that could change your life for the better, something that could help you realize how amazing you are…then you can’t wait another day.

As I said before – you will never be this young again.  In a week, month or year from now, you will be older and it may be even harder to get started than it is today.  You need to imagine that future version of yourself slapping your current self upside the head for putting it off.

As we have all seen when we lose a valued possession, job or even a loved one…the world keeps moving on regardless.  Other people keep moving towards their goals, taking small steps every day – because that is their right.

You cannot expect them to wait for you.

You can only hope they will help you – if you ask for it.

You will never be this young again.  Embrace the fact that you are still alive, able to read this and able to make some type of baby step towards your new path after you finish reading this segment.  If you can’t figure out a baby step, ask someone else to help you figure it out.  That, in itself, is a step forward.

Go ahead – step forward.

Or burst out into a frantic yet excited run.

Either way, get moving right now….if for no other reason than to dodge that bitch-slap from the future.
